Cannabis Legalization Updates
Cannabis legalization is advancing slowly but steadily in jurisdictions around the world. Following full legalization in countries like Canada, the United States lags behind - but shows signs of catching up. States like Delaware, Iowa, and Hawaii all have bills moving through their legislatures that would legalize and regulate the possession and sale of cannabis for adults.
Cannabis Legislation
A brief look at other nations can reveal what full cannabis legalization might look like on the federal level in the United States. On October 17, 2018, the Canadian Parliament passed the Cannabis Act, fully legalizing the possession and sale of cannabis across the country. That legislation allows consumers to possess up to 30 grams of dried cannabis and allows each household to grow up to 4 cannabis plants. It was accompanied by increased penalties for people who supply cannabis to minors and those who drive vehicles while under the influence of cannabis.
