According to a news report highlighting data by the control board, more than 200 applications had been submitted by the beginning of June. The license, per the report, would allow businesses to grow, manufacture, test, and sell cannabis to adults who are 21 years or older for recreational use.

The report notes that the recently selected seven applicants were social equity applicants — a nod to the board's reacquirement to consider licensing to social, economic, or empower applicants.

The board continues to review applications.
