“In 2012, my PTSD got to a point where I was suicidal,” Bicca said, per a report. “Where I didn’t know if I was going to make it to the next day.”
The bill proposes to limit THC in hemp packages to 2 milligrams and requires packaging to be unattractive to children.Advocates for cannabis agree with preventing minors from accessing THC products but argue that inspections already address this issue.
State Senator Colleen Burton, the bill's sponsor, claims it aims to create a regulatory framework for the safe production and sale of hemp extract products. Tom Quigley, the founder of the Florida Cannabis Coalition, warns that the 2-milligram cap would eliminate many full-spectrum CBD products.
“Two milligrams will eliminate every full spectrum CBD product that’s in the market,” Quigley said, as per the report. “And eliminate almost 10,000 different businesses’ opportunity to sell these products.”
Critics say the bill would harm small businesses and customers, who often buy THC products in 50-100 milligrams or higher.
