Norwood, MA--MariMed and Benzinga presented the Bob Fireman Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the first time during the 2023 Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference in Chicago.

This award pays homage to the late Bob Fireman, a trailblazer in the legal cannabis sector and MariMed’s co-founder and CEO.

Having ventured into the cannabis industry in 2008 alongside Jon Levine, Fireman remains celebrated for his entrepreneurial acumen and unwavering support for medical cannabis patient rights.

Recognizing Excellence

According to Yahoo! Finance report, Shanel Lindsay, Founder and President of Ardent Life Inc., was chosen as the inaugural award recipient.

Lindsay, a renowned attorney and entrepreneur, made significant strides in the Massachusetts cannabis landscape.

Her noteworthy contributions include the invention of the NOVA - a high-precision decarboxylator for medical cannabis patients, and the foundation of Ardent Life Inc., a global brand recognized for its advancements in cannabis biotech and medical equipment.

Lindsay's dedication to the industry is showcased through her double appointments to the Massachusetts Cannabis Advisory Board, where she contributes to regulation and taxation recommendations.

“Bob always worked hard as a business leader, attorney, and advocate for our industry. He guided MariMed to deliver on our mission to improve people’s lives through cannabis,” said MariMed's CEO Jon Levine, per the release.

“Bob’s passing left a void, but not before laying a roadmap for what integrity and ingenuity should look like in the cannabis industry,” said Eliot Lane, per the release. “We are thrilled to partner with MariMed to create the Bob Fireman Entrepreneur of the Year Award and equally excited to honor Shanel as its first recipient.”
